At Home

At home with Mason and the gang. I was recently told that the group in the photo was kind of creepy. I have several accumulations of things that stare back at you. I kind of feel sometimes the house is doing it too! The house is a Stick Queen Anne built in 1889. They say if the hair stands up on your body something is there. I try not to think of it too much, although it seems the more dead peoples stuff I bring into the house the livelier it has become around here. Well I am going to have a big sale and try and get rid of most of it, including the damaged civil war era frame which probably had a photo in it. I stopped hanging it on the wall because it shakes while hanging, mostly around 3 or 4 in the morning. The sale will be after the Sand Point Antique and Designer show in Seattle, that I will be attending. The show is the first Sunday of April.

Jolly Roger

Not the Jolly Roger from the Fremont Sunday Market but the one I had as a child, a kite.. There were many moments spent pulling on the string, letting the string out trying to avoid the ground or a tree which seemed more like a monster trying to consume it. And lets face it no kite fly er wanted to have a Charlie Brown moment. I actually have a vintage kite collection not a big one but amusing, the Jolly Roger being my most recent and rare find.

Its The Truth

I am not lying, its the truth. I had a great time today and I was not grumpy. Although I do not like it when people say are you feeling grumpy, then sometimes I do. When it comes to communication among the sexes it is more complicated than political issues that we have gone to War for. Lets all just try and play nice. I love you.

Home Shop

I had an antique store for many years and lived in a loft behind the store with my two youngest children. My then six year old Daughter called our place the Home Shop. We had a cat named Ada who would bounce off the front store window trying to beat up passing dogs. There was an assortment of colorful characters in our neighborhood, life in the city. Like a big floral arrangement. Sometimes made from weeds.

Heavy Rain

Oh yea I went to the Fremont Sunday Market today and it rained from the time I got there until 2:00, seven hours straight. Then It stopped and this thing came out from behind the clouds, it was bright and it hurt my eyes when I stared at it. That didn't last for long, but I managed to get out of there dry and found this shabby chalk ware string holder for not much money.

ATOM - BUSTER

I have the Atom Buster, it claims to fire a harmless invisible blast. It has been in its box for about fifty years, maybe that's why it is so harmless. I do not even know why I have it. Years ago at an antique toy auction a friend sitting right next to me bought it. I told him if he ever wanted to sell it I would buy it. Years later I helped him on a project and he asked me what I would like in exchange. Well I asked for the Atom Buster. When he handed it to me he said if you ever want to sell it I will buy it. So it goes we are both stuck with the Atom Buster forever.

Lets Go

So she may look a little bit stiff, but I still love her. It's time, lets go bowling. Wait a moment last time I bowled at my grandson's birthday bowling party I had a hard time tying my shoes the next day. Oh well maybe it is time again, it was fun and the days are numbered and maybe I can relate to those who have favorite things to do and try all of them. Or most of them, or some of them, or a few of them. But at least try something. New

Almost Spring

Well it is almost Spring, less than 4 hours away. Not my favorite season in the North West. Spring here is a season that really does not know what it is. It may be Summer for a moment and winter for a bit, but mostly rain until after the Fourth of July holiday. Spring does offer the optimism of Summer not being far away. I can appreciate that!

Feeling Lucky

Feeling Lucky. The image is a paper cup from The lucky Casino in Las Vegas and I'm pretty sure long since gone. The cup was used to hold change for the slot machines. It is one of many paper cups in my collection. Paper cup collection, rather odd or so I thought until I tried buying paper cups on eBay and found many others bidding me up.

Today everybody is Irish

Today everybody is Irish, or at least that is what the weather guy said on this mornings news. I would also like to note the weather person position, probably one of the few jobs you can keep while being consistently wrong. While in line before the opening of the local junk store this morning I noticed the pinching of a man by two older African American Gentlemen because he was not wearing green. Proof enough for me that today everybody must be Irish.

The Laundry

For a long time I have thought of doing the laundry as a wash and dry process. Not so when you are doing doing it for a women. Many rules to be considered. If a pair of pants fits well do not put it in the drier. If they are are loose its OK. T shirts are not OK in the drier. Bras are only to be dried when being held in the mouth of a brass and mahogany salmon by the strap, by the way I know about elastic. And by no means put something in the washer that says hand wash or dry clean only, even if it is in the basket. Be sure of your temperature settings. Make sure not to use to much bleach. Do not do, do do, do not. Do hope I got it right, I probably left a bunch of stuff out, which only proves that I'm just a guy.

Pike Place

We were selling at the Pike Place Market this week. My morning started by moving a ton of stuff stuff into the rummage sale room with help by Virginia. There was a movie being filmed so most of the parking was eliminated, cutting out allot of potential customers. On the other hand the Market people\ circus people, local residents, and the patrons of the methadone clinic were are out in force mostly do to boredom. My photo shows only about 2/3 of the stuff we brought. To the right there was another 3 six foot tables a large rack full of vintage clothing and several pairs of shoes and accessories. Overall there were some moments when I almost fell out of my chair in slumber, followed by conversations with old friends and allot of monitoring the repeat shoplifters.

Captain Kangaroo

I woke up this morning he was staring at me holding out the palms of his hands as though he thought he was a Buddhist Monk. What a great iconic vinyl character doll. I was Very excited to receive him.

At The Market

It was a nice day at the Fremont Sunday Market. Sunny at times and just an outright wonderful day in March. It was also my birthday and I received the best doll I have had in a long time from my favorite female. I will show you the doll on Tuesdays blog. It is lunchtime now so I'm off to make Mason a grilled cheese sandwich. He is not feeling all to well.

As The World Turns

As the world turns, insomnia darkens my eye sockets like soot. I see small hairy creatures smiling at me while holding thier offspring. Maybe it's the pain medication I took for this elbow thing going on with me. Thank goodness for doctors who don't know.

What

So Charlie and I set up at the freakin flea market today. Banjo's were playing and the deliverence crowd was not able to grasp the concept that things wonderful or ugly cost money. At one point I thought Charlie's head was going to come off, well maybe it wasn't all that well attached when we got there. I thought of my Freind Linda when I looked at the diorama with checkers and cards and matches, she liked it.

Big Hands I Know Your The One

This my first blog ever. At home wading through stacks of dead peoples stuff, antiques and collectibles. Too much stuff so little time, maybe a trip to Starlite is in order, our local drive in movie theater and flea market. Where is my favorite female, she is missing in action and not a very good phone person. Maybe she is at Wows, probably not. Hey Pal are you watching.
